17.11.1558 – 24.03.1603Sometimes called The Virgin Queen, Gloriana, or Good Queen Bess.
The daughter of Henry VIII, her reign is celebrated as a golden age for England. The Bust
Based on illustrations and Portraits of Queen Elizabeth, this sculpture was completed at our workshop in Bath and makes a truly regal addition to the mantel, bookshelves or occasional table for any ‘royalist’ or historian.
There are objects around the base of the bust depicting events and places from Elizabeth I’s reign. For this bust we have included the Spanish Armada, musical instruments from court including the lute, harp and drum along with the Globe Theatre, the crown and orb and Sir Walter Raleigh.
The etch around the base reads:
“I HAVE ALREADY JOINED MYSELF IN MARRIAGE TO A HUSBAND, NAMELY THE KINGDOM OF ENGLAND”.
